About
CWGA
The Clarksburg Wine Growers Association is an organization of wine grape growers from the Clarksburg appellation. It was formed in 1987 by local growers to promote the high-quality wine grapes of this premier growing region. CWGA is also dedicated to providing continuing education for our growers on evolving viticultural practices. The majority of our grower members—some from farm families located in the area for generations—are individuals directly involved in their vineyards and have a personal commitment to produce the best grapes possible. CWGA growers directly work with the wineries to achieve the high-quality grapes they demand. There are over 7,000 acres planted in wine grapes grown by our grower members. We grow over 25 varieties of grapes, the most popular being Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Sauvignon Blanc. Our growers sell wine grapes to over 20 wineries. Our associate membership is another important part of CWGA. Industry-related businesses, both local and out of the area, that want to support our growers and CWGA’s efforts, join us as associate members. The Clarksburg Wine Growers Association has 34 grower members and 29 associate members.
